Boston Hotels for Family Travel

Family Travel to Boston is not difficult; there are plenty of places to stay that welcome families and are set up to accommodate travelers with children. If you want to experience all that Boston has to offer, stay within the city and nearby the Freedom Trail, which is fun for adults and children alike.

For the most part, it's best to stick with the hotel chains that you know, including the Marriott or Hilton. If you're looking for elegance and don't mind spending a little more, you might want to try the Le Meridan, which is located on Franklin Street in the heart of Boston. It's near Beacon Hill, which is one of the stops along the Freedom Trail.

Closer to the Harbor is the North End (a.k.a. Little Italy). Generations of Italian families still live in the congested neighborhood sharing their multiple-deck dwellings with young unmarried professionals. An extremely safe neighborhood to walk around, the major streets are Hanover and Salem. Countless restaurants, cafes and bakeries scent the air with a profusion of delicacies. Historic attractions within walking distance of each other include the Old North Church, the Freedom Trail and Paul Revere's House. Check into the Marriott Long Wharf. The budget-conscious would prefer the smaller Harborside Inn located within arm's reach of Faneuil Hall.

The FleetCenter, Boston's newly constructed indoor sports and entertainment venue, is located in North Station and is an easy trek from the North End. The T (Boston's subway system) and its related commuter rail (Amtrak) service the area. Hotel choices within the immediate vicinity are limited. The Holiday Inn is nearby next to Massachusetts General Hospital. The Shawmut Inn, small but comparatively affordable, is in an ideal location if you want to be in the Fleet's presence. Less than a mile away is Charlestown, home to the U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides) and Bunker Hill Monument. This neighborhood also sits on the Freedom Trail.

Bed and breakfast establishments that welcome children can be found all over Boston, especially along the north shore of Massachusetts.
